Portable DVD players are perfect for movie lovers who are always on the go. They are commonly referred to as PDPs. With a portable model a consumer can watch a movie while commuting on the train to work or in a plane.

Most portable DVD players allow users to play CDs. Some even have docks for iPods. A portable player can be particularly useful for a parent who wants to occupy a child on a car trip if the car does not have a built-in player.

Prices for portable DVD players range from $80-$300. They are manufactured by major designers like Sony and by off-brand designers as well. In the future is likely that more PDPs will play Blu-ray discs.
