HD DVD Players
After a format war between HD DVD players and Blu-ray
DVD players Blu-ray players have won out. Not long after DVDs came to
market a new technology was discovered that allowed discs to hold even
more information. This allowed for even better picture quality.
Recently, Toshiba, the main backer of HD DVD players and associated
technology bowed out of the race for making high density players. When
this occurred disc makers stopped making movies in the HD DVD format.
This means that Blu-ray DVD players will become the new dominant player.
Consumers that already own HD DVD players that want to purchase new
high density DVDs are stuck with antiquated equipment. They will have
to purchase Blu-ray DVD players if they want to continue to grow their
movie library. Unfortunately, this occurs often in the world of technology.
Laser disc player owners and VHS player owners also had to abandon their
equipment.
