Blu Ray DVD Players
A few early Blu-ray DVD players were not able to play
regular CDs. However, most models now are backwards compatible. In addition,
most can also play CDs and MP3 encoded music discs.
Shortly after DVDs came to market new technology was developed that
would allow a disc to hold as much as six times the information as a
traditional DVD. Two formats competed to make DVDs in this fashion:
HD DVDs and Blu-ray DVDs. Eventually, Blu-ray DVD players and discs
won out and became the dominant medium.
Currently there are more than 1,000 Blu-ray movies available for Blu-ray
DVD players. The library is still growing as new movies come to the
home video market and are released in both DVD and Blu-ray format. Blu-ray
sales will likely increase because HDTVs can support the players’
superior picture quality.
